Dave Sheehan

We lost Dave on April 19, 2020 after he fought bravely against cancer, retaining his humour, sharp mind and his beautiful spirit to the last.  Dave was an accomplished player of acoustic, electric and slide guitar and a talented songwriter.  He performed with many Melbourne bands including Checkerboard Lounge, Heavy Earth with Kylie Auldist, Sheehan Smith & Sheehan and The Offtopics.    Dave had a keen interest in early blues guitar and piano styles and had started  performing some of  his favourite selections.  He  played lead guitar on numerous cd recordings. Dave had a PHD in history and a Masters degree in International Relations.  He had a love of academia and especially ancient history of the Celtic people.  Dave had worked at Latrobe University as head of tutors in the history department.  He was the recipient of the David Hume Philosophy Prize.  Dave had a love of cricket, and played for various Victorian clubs right up until the onset of his illness.  He is much missed by his family and friends.  We all love him dearly.
