is Marni's second album following the release of Critters & Specimens in 2004. The eleven tracks are a more rootsy and folk styling than the previous album, with darker lyrics as the title suggests. Once again an array of special guests/friends & family contributed their talents to bring the songs to life.
Preview tracks are available on Marni's Myspace page.

Once again I count my blessings for the fine work & generosity of the mighty special guest players. Dave & Amos Sheehan have come to the party for their dear old ma with cracking guitar & bass lines. The inimitable Russell Smith provides his unique sparkle on a range of instruments. I am so glad for the time & talents given by my dear friends Fiona & Kenny White, providing suitably rollicking vocals and national steel guitar from Kenny. Jim Williams & Tony Spizzica jumped in the deep end for our live recording of Justice.
Maggie Littlejohn & Sue Lesser helped to create the old-timey feeling with beautiful fiddle and vocal lines.

Again, my thanks go out to Mark Woods (of E-Pop and other fame) whose recording, production and people skills made the recording of the album a relaxed and fun experience.

'Overall this album is much more polished as Sheehan seems much more confident in her song writing….Listening to and owning this album is highly recommended'

'Marni Sheehan's 'Lonesome Blues'….a perfectly constructed blues piece. Marni can write a great story-song, such as the outlaws on the run tale of 'True Hearts'. The Irish fiddle and mandolin laced 'Rambling Rose & the Gardener of Love' is also a credit to Marni'.
